Women's March 2020
On 18 January 2020, millions of women and allies around the world will join the 4th annual women's march. This year’s event, March For Our Human Rights, focused on bodily autonomy and it took place at the steps of the Manitoba Legislative Building at 11:00 am.

The right to freely decide what happens to one’s own body is one of the most fundamental of human rights. However at a recent United Nations meeting the United States led 19 other member states in denying women a right to access safe and legal abortion. These member states represent 1.3 billion people and we cannot ignore the impact this declaration will have on women’s rights.
In the last year alone, women’s reproductive, sexual and human rights have experienced a massive rollback around the world. When our rights are under attack, what do we do? STAND UP, FIGHT BACK.
Women's March on Winnipeg 2020 was a significant success! Over a hundred attendees heavy snowfall and extreme cold to March For Our Human Rights!
Geraldine Shingoose, an Anishinaabe grandmother, opened the event along with the all-woman drum group Dancing Spirit. Then, two amazing speakers - Brianne Goertzen and Erika Lee talked about women's right. The speeches were followed by a performance of Un Violador en Tu Camino Performance by the amazing UVETC Winnipeg. Finally, everyone marched in solidarity around the Legislative ground.
