International Women's Day - 2020
Manitoba Women for Women of South Sudan Inc. (#MW4WSS) hosted the event that celebrated the International Women's Day 2020 and welcomed the peace in South Sudan on March 7, 2020, at Sudanese Centre from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

After the greetings, Ms. Elizabeth Aluk Andrea, MW4WSS's president, announced to start the event. She represented for all MW4WSS's members say thank you to all the guests and representatives from other communities who came to the event.
Then, Elizabeth presented a brief introduction about MW4WSS with the organizational objectives and activities. Finally, by explaining the reason to celebrate this special day and the "I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights" theme for the year 2020, she declared the event started.
The event started with short clips emphasized women's rights and called the actions to empower women all over the world. Then, the following representatives from other communities came to the stage to bring greetings to the event:

Margret Surur - Council of South Sudanese Community of Manitoba
Jennifer Chan - Winnipeg School Division
Manitoba Women For Women was proud to have MLA Uzoma Asagwara and Dr. Zita Zimakoko coming as special guest speakers for this significant event.
Following is the speech of MLA Uzoma Asagwara as MW4WSS's first guest speaker. Uzoma told the story which emphasized the importance of the community in one's success. Uzoma pointed up the African community is contributing to society by supporting its members on many sides of life. Uzoma also mentioned the need to empower women and protect women's rights from every community. Next, Dr. Zita Zimakoko took the stage with the speech inspired actions to protect women. She impressed the importance of women in society and pointed out the strong potential of women in supporting the economy's growth.

The performance of singer Margret Akon Maker came up next and heated the event. People inside the centre were inspired to join dancing followed the melody of the song.
Finally, Ms. Elizabeth talked about the upcoming opportunity of peace in South Sudan. The event was closed with an introduction to the painting of the united South Sudanese map.
